5 Travel Myths

5 Travel Myths that social media has made worse.

Expensive

One common misconception about travel is the belief that it is always expensive and only accessible to the wealthy. You do not have to be rich to travel! The surge of budget traveling has hit mainstream media like a freight train and I am thrilled about it.

There are numerous ways to make travel more affordable, such as choosing budget-friendly destinations, opting for local accommodations or hostels, utilizing public transportation, and finding discounted flights or travel deals. With proper planning and flexibility, travel can be attainable for individuals with various financial means.

Solo Female Travel

Solo Female traveling has been made taboo throughout travel history, but this is making a dramatic change. I am not sure why so many people steer clear of solo travel, but I am here to tell you from experience no matter your gender it is completely possible AND a thrilling experience. When done safely and comfortably you will learn so much more about yourself than you ever could at home.

Traveling is For Retirement

This one gets me going. I was raised in an environment where you work hard and do the 9-5 life when you are young and you travel in your retirement years. I HATE THIS, I do not believe in waiting to travel. It should be a lifelong journey of exploration, and there is no better teacher in this world than other cultures. Travel belongs to all ages.

Jet Lag

Okay, I am not saying jet lag is a myth… but it is super easy to combat and should not be something that stunts your travel. Proper hydration, an adjusted sleep schedule, and proper vitamins will help you adjust just fine! No more than a night’s adjustment.

G-L-A-M

Another misconception is that travel is always glamorous and carefree. While travel can indeed be exhilarating and awe-inspiring, it also comes with its fair share of challenges and obstacles. Travelers may encounter language barriers, cultural differences, homesickness, logistical issues, and unexpected setbacks. It's important to recognize that travel involves both highs and lows - being prepared to adapt and overcome challenges is an essential part of the journey.
